This is the last message in the our Love Series.
We looked at Loving God.
Intense: loving God with all our heart, mind, body and soul.
Then we got into loving our self.
This was a little tricky.
Loving self is such a challenge for many people because we keep score of our failures.
Loving Self is a must.
It is a command, because in order to love others you must first have self love.
You can not give that which you do not possess.
The is when you love God with all your heart, mind, body, and soul, and love yourself, you can now love outside of yourself.Love must start on the inside and move from the inside to the outside.
A man was working a crossword puzzle and asked, “What is a four letter word for a strong emotional reaction toward a difficult person?” Someone standing nearby said, “The answer is hate.” A lady interrupted and said, “No, the answer is love!” Everyone is working that same crossword puzzle, but the way you answer is up to you.
“If, however, you are [really] fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF [that is, if you have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit]” you are doing well.” JAMES 2:8 AMPGod’s Word says To love God is the first and greatest commands.
The second command is to love others as we love ourself.
Loving self is how we have the heart and ability to love others.
The description to this command says, “having an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit.
Last Wednesday as I was getting things ready for our Prayer/fellowship which one of the guys brought 3 dozen tamales.
I went out to get bottled water, few things and Pastor Yvonne asked me to get rice and beans to go with the tamales.
I did not have time to run to my normal place so I pulled in to local Mexican restaurant.
Rameriz, as I was standing there waiting for a large order of beans & rice I noticed this old bag lady.
I have seen her for years walking all over the area on bell road.
When I go into Sam’s Club she is in there.
She sometimes sleeps on the coaches.
I have seen her many times reading her Bible there.
Any way as I am standing gazing out the window i see here walking up to Rameriz’s.
She parks her shopping cart and walking in.
I am standing there by the counter.
She orders one tamale.
I could not help my self.
I lean over and say would you mind if I pay for your tamale? She looks at me with a strange look.
I say, I have seen you reading your bible at Sam’s Club many times.
I told her I am a Pastor and I love God.
She smiled said thank you.
I pray for her.
We see her all the time pushing her shopping cart. God loves her.
God cares about her and her life. The greatest thing i did for her was not buy her a tamale, it was to show her God’s Love in action.
She is an old bag lady wandering the streets where I live.

UNSELFISH CONCERN FOR OTHERS.
You will never be concerned about others if you do not have the true Love of God in your hearts and it is alive.
When I received Christ is was so radically changed.
I wanted everybody to experience the love and freedom that I have. The world is selfish.
Religion and religious people are selfish.
Jesus people care.
When you see outside of self you see others.
So many people are just living life for themselves.
Jesus did not just pay the price for our lives to experience Abundant Living, He did for others also.
I never cried before Jesus.
I cry now at the drop of a hat.
I had dinner with Steve and Susan and after dinner we watched a movie.
Man I am on the couch holding my face wiping the tears.
I was so touched by the movie.
I am watching the animated movie The Star with Daisyrose and I am crying because the donkey desired to carry a King.
When he realized he carried Mary with child he remembered his dream desire was to carry a King.
He did.
Here is what Jesus did for me and to me.
He loved me.
I accepted His love.
His love changed me.
Love changes people.
Not religion or religious.
Love, Jesus Love Changes and until you have truly experienced this Love on This Level you can’t love like Jesus. Jesus cried over cities.
He took time to heal hurting people.
People that no one would take the time for He did. When received this Love, Jesus Love it changed me.
I was so cold before.
I could not feel, I had love or compassion for others.
I was selfish. You can not give this kind of love away if you do not have it really in your heart.
Unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit.
When you have the Love of Jesus in your heart everyday you look to share Him with others.
You look to do things for others benefit. I am walking in Sam’s Club and and pretty big, strong and in shape guy approaches me to try to sell me Cox Cable.
I told him i have internet but don’t do the tv package.
I looked into his eyes and seen something as I walked away.
I was busy, but I seen something.
I came back and asked his name.
He told me he just moved here from Texas.
I seen a ring, a big one like a football team one.
I told him God loved him and is going to help him get through this difficult time.
Tears welled up in his eyes.
I invited him to church and to call me anytime. Everywhere we go Jesus work is everywhere.
You have to have His heart to see and feel the need of others.
People are hurting, broken, and lonely.
UNSELFISH CONCERN FOR OTHERS AND DO THINGS FOR THIER BENEFIT.
We live in a time and culture where its about me, myself and I. Jesus shares the story of the Good Samaritan.
Samaritan was not even religious.
They were considered the lower class people.
A man is robbed and left to die.
A priest and Rabbi both come by see the man and walk way around him.
To busy to help or care.
The Samaritan stopes and takes him to an inn.
Pays the inn keeper to help him and says he will pay the bill for whatever is owed when he comes back by. Jesus makes a distinction between super show religious people and the love and compassion of a non-religious person.
The non religious person had more of a heart for God because he cared for his fellow man who needed help.
Self has no time to serve, no time to care, no time to love, no time to share Christs love, no time to rescue.
Self is all about self.
Religious people are all about the work of the religion, but Jesus said powerful truths. “Finally, all of you be like-minded [united in spirit], sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted [courteous and compassionate toward each other as members of one household], and humble in spirit; and never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding, berating, and any kind of abuse], but on the contrary, give a blessing [pray for one another’s well-being, contentment, and protection]; for you have been called for this very purpose, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being, happiness, and protection].” 1 PETER 3:8-9 AMP ALL OF YOU BE LIKE MINDED.
“I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another.
Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”” JOHN 13:34-35 AMP The disciple test was not how much you pray, or work in the ministry.
The true test of discipleship if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.
Your neighbor.
